Controller FAQ

Can the SmartSiren control head and the SS2000 Touch Screen software be used at the same time?
The control head and the touch-screen program can be used together to operate the SmartSiren system. The interface module included with the SS2000 Touch Screen Kit alternates control between the touch-screen software and the control head. If the software is not maximized on the laptop screen, the control head operates the SmartSiren system. When the software is maximized on the laptop screen, then the laptop screen controls the system. This provides two separate points of control and adds system redundancy.

What is a “parallel system?”
A virtual system is the result of an upgrade to the serial-interface system. The image of the RLS control head appears on the laptop monitor in the police car, eliminating the need for a separate control head. The user controls all emergency light and siren functions by touching the laptop screen image.

What is a “serial system?”
It is an interface-system variation used specifically with the Code 3 RLS light and siren controller in combination with the Code 3 2100SC lightbar.

What is an “interface system?”
An interface system allows the user to program light, siren and switch functions without complicated rewiring or technical reconfiguration. The system is driven by a user-friendly software-programming kit loaded on a laptop PC. All interface variations work with the Code 3 2100SC lightbar in combination with most variations of control heads and switching systems.
